A New Year Of Self Love

Many of us have gone through hardships in the past few years, and we look to the new year with an expectation of a new beginning. In my experience the new year’s beginning has not been my answer. No matter how many resolutions or expectations I have put on myself not one has ever made me happy. Instead I have set myself up to fail.

The cold months and shorter days of winter makes this season the perfect time for reflections. Don’t reflect on your mistakes, but on the acts of love, and your positive ways that were able to make you shine this past year. Start this year by honoring and loving yourself. Do things that make you feel special. Don’t have expectations of others to fill your needs, but instead, learn to enjoy your own company.

Take at least fifteen minutes a day to sit in meditation, sit quietly and feel the love around you and know that you are part of that love. Bundle up and take walks and/or spend time in nature. Nature has so beautifully provided us with an abundant source of energy. Take time to notice the sights, sounds and smells while you are outside. These are ways to connect you with a loving universe and as you take the time to connect, you will feel the positive rewards.

Spirit tells me that we were alone on our journey to birth. We will be alone again as we leave our bodies, until the spirit of our loved one meets us as we move into the light. The time in between on Earth, relationships come and go, situations are forever changing, but what we are here to learn while in the physical body is the law of the Universe. There is no permanence. You don’t have control there is a higher force walking with you on your path. Don’t judge, blame or hate yourself for situations that happened in the past. Your conciseness is forever changing, and the way you dealt with your past circumstance was your best at that time. As you enter into the new year forgive yourself and love the specialness of who you are.
