Within the last year there has been much sadness and violence in the world. My prayers are not for the souls who crossed over through the violence of our world; I know that they are at peace. My prayers are for the families and all of humanity who are left to pick up the pieces.
We live in a culture of violence. It is shown to us every day. Many hunger for it until it consumes them. The more violence is viewed, the more our consciousness allows us to normalize it and desensitize what was once unacceptable. Humans have been violent since the beginning of time. Maybe now it is more intense because of the increase in the population and also stronger weapons that are constantly being developed.
Years ago I was in a session with a soul who crossed over from the attack on the World Trade Center. He explained to me that he was part of a group of souls that came to Earth to wake society up to love and peace. Yet, instead of love, it gave us more reason to hate. I said, “So many people see it as another country attacking us.” He told me that we, as a country, must do what we need to do to defend ourselves, but looking at it from above, there is no separation by countries. We are all one. I remember asking him how could this brutal attack teach love. He told me when someone has caused you harm and sadness and you can find love for that person, you have evolved to an enlightened being. I also asked can you be an enlightened being while still in body? He told me, “That is why you are here. To learn. You are here to find freedom from hate, delusion and fear.” Spirit has explained to me that before we are born we all have a path to complete while in the physical body on Earth. Soul groups come together to bring lessons to others to help the human race evolve. The group of souls that were killed this year are trying to teach us love. To slow down and find compassion for all.
There are times when I long to go back in time where there were small towns and communities. When a neighbor was sick or a child in trouble, many people grouped together to help. We can’t change the world, but we can change ourselves by creating a new perspective on life. If we could make the commitment to meditate in love and compassion and send light and love outward to all, it would be the start of our change towards love to all living beings. A change to those who intend good and to those who intend harm. We ask for change not in agreement or judgment but in loving kindness.
As we focus on our own soul development, we will recognize the spiritual core of every person at birth is love. In a world weighed down by sadness we can be the light. When we become the light then all those who tragically died will have completed their purpose.
