According to the mystical tradition, Christ is a symbol of love, which is borne into the world through each of us. I was taught by spirit that we hold this unconditional love at birth. As we go through our life, we are asked to open our hearts and choose love. As we make our hearts a true channel for love, and our minds a channel for our higher thoughts, a divine birth takes place in each of us. If we could only hold on to this divine love throughout our life, the transition into spirit would be natural. When death occurs, the spirit moves into a world that is only unconditional love. A world I like to call heaven. There is overwhelming welcoming and acceptance. Every day is a holiday! Love is shared even if the new spirits do not believe they deserve this adoration.
The question is how to keep love in our thoughts. Many ascended masters have taught of heaven. The Buddha taught that inner salvation and heaven are in the here and now. If we follow the teachings of Buddha and live in each moment with love and compassion, we can then understand Jesus’ promise of heaven after death. Mother Teresa said, “I am not sure exactly what heaven will be like, but I know that when we die and it comes time for God to judge us, he will not ask,’ How many good things have you done in your life?’ rather he will ask, ‘How much love did you put into what you did?’” When you become love while still in the physical body, your transition into heaven becomes joyous and you will truly know that you deserve to be loved.
This is a good time during this holiday season to force yourself to slow down. Allow yourself to feel the love of the season. Even children’s stories are inspirational. The stories of Saint Nicholas are stories of compassion. He brought gifts to children as selfless acts of charity and caring without expectation of anything in return. It is again a symbol of love.
Take the time to sit quietly in meditation and connect with the spirit of your loved one. Feel his or her freedom, joy and love move through your body. You are the present, finely wrapped, but what is inside is more spectacular– a beautiful soul waiting to grow.
Wishing you love and peace during this holiday season.
